The Rise of Abnormal

Abnormal party. It's pretty much just a zine full of strange pics that Joel Evey, myself, and good friends compiled from our sketchbooks. And from the looks of our sketchbooks...we need to get lives.

Revo Show Sunday Night

The Revo Art Show to Benefit Street Angels (http://www.streetangelsministry.com/) was totally rad. I was pumped to see so many people pack the place out on a Sunday night considering most of us are watching bad VHI shows and eating Mexican leftovers on an average Sunday night. I sold a few pieces and got to show some newer stuff which was also sweet.
Check out the pics from the event and make sure to check out the RSD website for more to come.
*Bonus - check out the last pic to see me sweating for no apparent reason. Not sure why I'm highlighting this...

Marriage

I recently got married and we had photo booth at the wedding. Then I pilfered this montage from my wife's blog. It's artsy and I like it so I think that makes it ok.

If you live in North Park...

Guess what I got for my wedding gift this year? A fixed gear. Hypocritical award '09 goes to me. In my defence I don't own a Grizzly Bear album nor do I like Colt 45. I'll prepare a speech soon.

Bondi - Sunday Night

What are you doing Sunday night? Nothing, because no one has ever had plans on a Sunday night in the history of life. If this is you as well, come downtown and help support a few great organizations at a show this weekend. I'll have some pieces up and I'll probably give you friendship points if you come as well which can't be redeemed anywhere. I love you all.

Clean Garage

I spent the whole day cleaning my garage so now the second piece no longer makes sense. On the plus side, I got some tools for Christmas so I'm feeling more and more like a man by default. Soon I will learn how to actually hold and use them.

Polaroid wonder and wood.

Nixon Holiday Mosh

'Tis the season for awesomeness all around. Last week was a whirlwind, but it was topped off with the Nixon Holiday Mosh. The event was rad. Great people, great music, great artwork...the list goes on. I was able to show a couple of new pieces along with some old stuff as well. I think a bunch of new pics will be up shortly on the Nixon website...if not, I just lied about that.

I hope everyone is having a great Christmas.

Slayer Album Release

And by Slayer...I mean Seth Philpott slaying the most from coast to coast. His album was released last Tuesday and it rocks. I did some lettering and doodles for the album so you can check it out when you buy the album (or get it on itunes).

New stuff

I'm working on a bunch of new stuff and the new pieces are super low-brow. I'm always saying that...but this time I mean it. Soon I will update (aka create) my online store and add the new pieces that are mainly old record covers with crappy sayings only I think are clever. Then you can purchase online and I can procrastinate on shipping it to you as well. Cheers!

Chromatic Art Show

The show was rad last night, thanks to everyone for coming out. Voyeur was a great club to host and Kevin from the brilliant tv show The Office even showed up...and he pretty much looks the same in real life, and yes, eveyone still called him "Kevin" even though he has a real name.

Photos will be up soon at http://www.djhere.com/ as well as http://www.944.com/ As soon as I lazily (is that a word?) poach pics from these sites, I will put them up here as well.

Also - we successfully launched the first volume of our art zine Abnormal Things. These are limited edition zines and each are numbered (75 total). Hit me up if you'd like one of the remaining ones and I'll try and send it to you...or pretend to.

GYDO Show Next Wednesday

Just finished a new flyer for these guys. They will be melting faces off at U31 in North Park this next week.

Making this flyer made me miss cassettes. Most of us lived off of Boys II Men cassettes for the greater part of Jr. High.

Shotally Show

Boom. New show on Sept. 26th.

Joel Every (Tactical Magic) and myself (Cowboy Wayne) will be releasing the first zine printed entitled Abnormal Things. It will be rad, this I promise.

New Zine, Old News

I'm currently working with Joel Evey on a zine tentatively titled Abnormal Things. It's pretty much just a collection of drawings only we think are cool, nobody else will get it. Kind of stupid, but also pretty awesome. Shoot me an email with your address and contact info and we'll mail you a zine when they come out in September.

We are both taking part in a show at the new club Voyeur in Downtown SD on Sept. 26 so we'll be passing these out there as well.

Seth Philpott Album Artwork

Recently, I've been working on some lettering and doodles with the face-melting artist known as Seth Philpott for his upcoming album that will release in September. This guy slays the most from coast to coast.
New album coming soon. Check out more at http://www.sethphilpott.com/
More album artwork to come.

New GYDO flyer

This pic might scare the kids away...which kind of ruins the point since it's an all ages show. I guess that's true Cobra style, being so intense that it's not logical.

Stay tuned for some more new band project stuff I'm working on as well as some shows coming up in the future.

High School All Over Again

Here's a newby from the Hard Rock show on Friday night. Thanks to everyone who came down, it was pretty epic. I'll upload some pics from the show after I poach some from some of the photographers down there. Apparently I still don't know how to use a camera.
$85 - spend it like you have it.

Rock and Roll Lives

A flyer for a friend's band. Hopefully it looks like one hanging in a high school cafeteria. That's about all I'm good for in the design world.

Monday, June 15, 2009

Ok I guess, not that great though

High tops and buildings. I don't get it either.

*SOLD

Totally Hot New Piece

How gnarly is Kristofferson you ask? Gnarly enough to make out nude on the cover of a 1976 record with Barbara Streisand and then play a really old guy in the Blade trilogy like 30 years later. What have you done lately?

This is one I'm working on for the upcoming show at Hard Rock on the 26th. More to come.

Hard Rock Time

Got yet another show coming up on the 26th. Come hang out at the Hard Rock downtown and see some awesome artwork. Rumor has it there will be a fashion show going on at the same time as well, so if you don't like my new stuff...at least you can see some really, really good looking people walking around in strange clothes.

Sat night house show

It was a good time. I think I ate too many cookies. Plus, I'm not good as a door guy even if I do make a fierce face.

Coastal Creative Show

Finally...a show at home in Encinitas...at Beachside. It's like a home-field game. My car will thank me.

Come check it out on the 9th. It will be a great group of artists and I'll have a few new pieces.

Shrevetime

My friend Sarah will be going to Spain this summer and needing some cash to do it (for an awesome photo program she will be joining).
There will be a benefit art shot on the 30th in Hillcrest that I'll be taking part in to try and help her on her quest to further awesomeness.
Join us.

May 30th @ 7PM at 1260 Robinson Ave. in Hillcrest (92103

For sale at the show with a few more. Come buy it so Sarah makes some cash and so I look like a real artist.
