Bloom Show Recap

Super fun, even despite the fact that I ate too much dairy on the cheese plate I ordered and some guy outside on the street tried to sell me his rap mixtape on two seperate occasions while I asked repeatedly for directions to a 7-11. Everyone's work at this show was genius and the band was on point. I can't believe that the singer could hold notes that long, she was blowing my mind...and later my ears after two hours. It was a great night all around.

Party Faces

Procrastination 101 - Stay up late and work on stuff the night before it's due. I could teach that class at Yale. Here's a peak at what I'm working on for the Bloom show tomorrow night. In related news...one sentence later I realize I can't even spell "peek" correctly. It's going to be super fun. I'm going to be a coffee robot boy tomorrow for sure. See you all there except for all you people staying home to watch the Office...that is permitted.

What Would Kenny Do?

It's a fair question.. I think he'd pretty much bring the party to my garage.

Garage Party

I spent the day riding my bike...coming back to the garage...procrastinating...then riding my bike again...then reading...then procrastinating...then checking the surf...then listening to ac/dc in the garage...then finally drawing (which was my original plan all along). From the events listed above I clearly have no life. It was an amazing Sunday. Looking forward to the Syrah show coming up in a few weeks.

Tasty New Show

Good friends, Gooder artists. Should be the real deal. Plus, Syrah is super legit. I'll have some new stuff up for you to ponder and such. Come down and earn some extra friend points that can be redeemed for a can of PBR in my garage.

You Know This Guy

He smokes Marlboro reds and races dune buggys on week day nights with his friends from high school. Also can be seen playing dice behind the local Chilis with the line cooks or actually eating any breakfast taquito from 7-11 with milk on a hot day.

Acrylic, Marker, Tons and tons of stain.  2x4   $100

Eat Your Heart Out Carl Weathers

Everyone knows Arnold was the true hero in Predator (which is totally awesome). If you haven't seen Predator, stop reading this posting. Rambo wasn't shabby either, although the second one was even more awesome.

This is a piece I did for the last show at Voyeur which was a super fun show with great local artists and friends. Yes, I found a laserdisc (see also: "before dvd was created" in google search) for both the Predator and Rambo at a local record shop. It was destiny, I needed to create a piece that reflected the glory of these films (once again, on laserdisc). Although most people didn't get this one at the show (google images of standard clubbers at Voyeur to find out why), it is my favorite one to date....which probably shows just how serious my art career is considering it took me 30 minutes to make.

Don't fight the power, embrace it.

Pics from the Sezio Boat House Show

So...a bunch of really rad artists painted the inside of this house last week and my wife was one of them. She did a piece with a girl in a furry hat that was floating. It was pretty killer. Plus, it looked like real art. I found a way to cheapen things by jamming a lurking ghost in the corner of the wall wearing a toupee. Yes, my imagination is that limited. Yes, it was fun.

Electric Show - Voyeur

Kaboom. It's happening. I'm in a new show with a bunch of my friends who happen to be killer SD artists in a couple weeks. Come down and hang out with everyone at Voyeur. Killer-diller-whale.

Boat House Send-off

Pretty much the coolest idea ever...moving out?...have a bunch of random artists do every square inch of wall with whatever they want before the bank takes over. Sezio keeps doing really sweet stuff, and they alwasy pull really awesome talent together. I got to crash the party and help my wife Kelli do some work on a back wall where she did a large piece. Totally worth checking out tomorrow night, this show will be really awesome.

Check out the deets on the Sezio site.

The Rise of Abnormal

Abnormal party. It's pretty much just a zine full of strange pics that Joel Evey, myself, and good friends compiled from our sketchbooks. And from the looks of our sketchbooks...we need to get lives.

Revo Show Sunday Night

The Revo Art Show to Benefit Street Angels (http://www.streetangelsministry.com/) was totally rad. I was pumped to see so many people pack the place out on a Sunday night considering most of us are watching bad VHI shows and eating Mexican leftovers on an average Sunday night. I sold a few pieces and got to show some newer stuff which was also sweet.
Check out the pics from the event and make sure to check out the RSD website for more to come.
*Bonus - check out the last pic to see me sweating for no apparent reason. Not sure why I'm highlighting this...

Marriage

I recently got married and we had photo booth at the wedding. Then I pilfered this montage from my wife's blog. It's artsy and I like it so I think that makes it ok.

If you live in North Park...

Guess what I got for my wedding gift this year? A fixed gear. Hypocritical award '09 goes to me. In my defence I don't own a Grizzly Bear album nor do I like Colt 45. I'll prepare a speech soon.

Bondi - Sunday Night

What are you doing Sunday night? Nothing, because no one has ever had plans on a Sunday night in the history of life. If this is you as well, come downtown and help support a few great organizations at a show this weekend. I'll have some pieces up and I'll probably give you friendship points if you come as well which can't be redeemed anywhere. I love you all.

Clean Garage

I spent the whole day cleaning my garage so now the second piece no longer makes sense. On the plus side, I got some tools for Christmas so I'm feeling more and more like a man by default. Soon I will learn how to actually hold and use them.

Polaroid wonder and wood.
